A Big Change for Our Coffee
Level Ground Trading has provided Ten Thousand Villages with high-quality, fair trade coffee for two decades. Customers have come to expect amazing coffee in their cup that is both reasonably priced and ethically sourced.
With the closure of Ten Thousand Villages Canada in the spring of 2020, seven stores have continued to operate independently across the country (Abbotsford BC, Edmonton AB, Calgary AB, Brandon MB, Steinbach MB, Port Colborne ON, and Cobourg ON). Only four of these stores have retained the Ten Thousand Villages name.
For that reason, it makes little economic sense for Level Ground to continue the red and black "Ten Thousand Villages" packaging for just four stores. Thus, the final supply of the Villages' bags will run out by March 2021 and then all stores will begin to stock the Level Ground packaging in 300g bags (retail price $11.50).
Unfortunately, Level Ground's packaing doesn't always directly translate for the Villages' packaging. For one thing, the Villages' packaging has 11 different varieties while the Level Ground packaging has only 8 varieties. [Note: the seasonal "Winter" blend from Oct - Jan is an additional product that is unaffected by this changeover]
Below, we have created a visual guide to help our customers make the transition from their current favourite coffees to the new packaging. These recommendations come directly from Level Ground. In somes cases, there will be little or no change while, in others, customers may need to find a new favourite roast based on their favourite country of origin.
